Warning: Jailbreaking your iPod/iPhone will void your warranty. Downloading cracked applications is illegal and may have legal consequences. It is not my intention to motivate people to do illegal things, everything you do will be on your own risk!

Notice: This will only work with the latest generation of iPods/iPhones with Firmware 3.1.2 or higher! The blackra1n jailbreak will probably not work with the MC models (iPod  touch 3G with 8GB).

1. Jailbreak your iPod/iPhone

Before you will be able to install applications other than the ones from iTunes Store, you must jailbreak your iPod. Please consider the warning above before jailbreaking your iPod.

The easiest jailbreak for the 3.1.2 firmware is blackra1n. This tutorial will only focus on blackra1n.

Warning: blackra1n is a so-called “tethered jailbreak”, meaning that everytime you reboot your iPod (e.g. due to empty battery or after switching it completely off) you will have to run blackra1n again. Running blackra1n again won’t install or uninstall any applications but just enable the iPod to start again.

1. Download blackra1n either from the official website or from this server.
2. Make sure you have installed at least firmware version 3.1.2 in iTunes.
   
3. Close iTunes but keep the iPod connected to your computer via USB.
4. Open the downloaded blackra1n.exe file and click the “make it ra1n” button
   
5. Your iPod will go into recovery mode now and reboot. You should see this on your computer:

6. Now wait for the iPod to reboot, shouldn’t take longer than a few seconds. Once done, launch the “blackra1n” application that appeared and install  Cydia and Rock.
   

2. Enable the installation of cracked application

1. Open Rock, the application you just installed with blackra1n.
2. Go to Manage -> Manage Sources -> Edit -> Add and enter http://cydia.hackulo.us to enable downloads from hackulo.us, then click Add Source
   
3. Go to Search, search for AppSync and install “AppSync for OS 3.1″
   
4. That’s it,  your iPod is now able to install cracked applications.
   For the case that cracked apps won’t work, try installing AppSync again with Cydia instead of Rock.

3. Download and install cracked applications

1. The biggest cracked application repository out there is Appulo.us, so you should try getting your desired application there first. The website is quite slow and sometimes offline, so be patient.
2. If Appulo.us doesn’t find the application you want or is offline, you may use downloadipa.info, apps.su or search torrents and rapidshare for “<app name> ipa” (ipa is the extension of cracked apps).
3. If the downloaded app came in a zip file (which is the case with most apps downloaded from Appulo.us), rename it to .ipa
4. Double-click your ipa files to add them to iTunes
5. Sync the iTunes applications with your iPod
6. Launch the application on your iPod!

The G1will be available from October 22, 2008, for about 180US$ with 2-year T-Mobile plan and 400US$ without.
It has a 3.2″ touch screen with a resolution of 480×320 pixels. There is no need to use a pen for the touchscreen, tapping and dragging with the fingers is enough.
The phone is equipped with 1GB internal memory, and can be extended with a microSD card (up to 8GB).
When the phone is slid open, it has a full QWERTY keyboard, and six more navigation buttons. The camera can take photos with 3 mega pixels, but isn’t able to record videos. Also, a video playback application is missing, you can only watch YouTube-videos with the built-in browser.

Preinstalled applications are many popular Google applications like Maps, GMail, Calendar and Google Talk, a GPS navigation software and a music player with ability to purchase and download new songs.
Other applications can be downloaded from the AndroidMarket.

I am very anxious to try Android on a real phone – the emulator for computers included in the Android SDK looks very interesting. Many people critizise the missing earphone jack and the missing video player, but hey! its the first phone released with Android, and many more will follow. I think soon there will be a better candidate, which is better, cheaper and more innovative than the iPhone, and not later than then I will get such a phone. I think it’s worth it!

Today I’ll show you how to build a remote trigger with your old cell phone. You don’t need much stuff and the trigger will be useful for all kind of stuff that I’ll show later.

Requirements:

• Old cell phone, must support silent mode with vibration
• Old SIM card (working)
• 2 wires
• Screwdriver
• Diagonal pliers
• Small block of wood/rubber/plastic
• second, working cell phone to trigger the other one

Here I’m using my old Nokia 3200, but you can apply this tutorial to any other cell phone model.

First of all, remove the casing of your phone. That should be quite easy. Next take out the battery and SIM card. Now, and that may depend on your phone model (my one has torx) use a screwdriver to disassemble the internal parts of your phone. Usually they have 6 screws of the Torx 6 format.

My Nokia 3200 consists of 2 parts, one curcuit board holds the keyboard and screen, the other one the computing stuff (memory, processor, SIM card, …). It looks like this:

When you look into the casing, you should see a small electric motor with a weight at its axis:

When this motor rotates, the weight, hanging only on one side of the axis, creates a momentum force perpendicular to its current line from center of gravity to mid of axis, pulling the phone in the direction of the phone. Since it’s rotating, the direction of this force changes all the time, and the phone is pulled in alternating directions, thus creating a vibration.

But we don’t want the phone to vibrate, it should trigger something. So we remove the motor (you can simply pull it out), but use its power supply.

As you can see in the image above, the motor has 2 metallic contacts, used to transfer the power. We need to connect them to our trigger, so when somebody calls the phone and it would usually vibrate, it now gives a signal to whatever you want to trigger.

You can either solder 2 wires directly to the phone’s board’s contact counterparts, or do it the way I did it: By creating an block with 2 contacts similar to the motor we removed.

You will need a hole in the phone’s back so that the wires can come out, so just drill one where the weight on the axis has been:

Then take a wooden block the size of the motor and placed it where the motor previously has been:

Now punch two holes into the block with a needle at the same distance as the contacts, so you can plug in the wires later:

Now take two equally-long wires, remove around 5-7mm of the isolation from one end, and twist them around each other:

After that, bend the unisolated ends around a screwdriver and make a knot in the cord, so it won’t drop out of the hole you drilled:

Now insert the blank ends of the wires into the holes in the wooden block, and pull the other end through the drilled hole. It should look something like this:

Hold the phone’s computing board over your construction and check whether the blank ends of the wires touch the contacts on the board, so that the power will be transfered.
Then reassemble the whole phone excluding the vibration motor, screw in the screws, put in SIM card and battery, and give it a try

Now start the phone, enter PIN, switch to silent mode and call it from another phone. If you connect a voltmeter to the wires coming out from the body, you should be able to measure the current! If not, check the contacts inside the phone.

Here it’s working fine!
